Being a nerd isn't just limited to comics and Dungeons & Dragons anymore.
Nowadays you can be a nerd over just about anything (including Baseball)!
With nothing off the table, we're introducing a new blog series: The Quirky Nerd...a place to share the off-the-wall hobbies that you get excited for.
Rebounding, in whatever form, can be a triumph in our lives.
Seeking to bounce back from life’s setbacks can oftentimes be a daunting challenge. So finding something that we benefit from both physically and spiritually is indeed a success.
When I discovered Rebounding, which is basically just, "exercise while jumping on a mini-trampoline," I was amazed to learn this little movement would benefit me just as much spiritually as it would physically.
Let me say the physical benefits of Rebounding are astonishing, that alone had me at ‘Hello’.
With a few clicks on the keyboard this new Rave was in route to my home within a day.
A quick set up and I decided to give this neat gizmo a go at it. To my surprise after a few minutes of jumping I felt a boost of energy, and within a few more minutes I broke into a dripping sweat.
I couldn't stop, I felt the jump in me by then and it became too enjoyable not to continue.
I soon felt like a kid again, jumping on our large trampoline in our backyard with not a care in the world to bother me! Every jump led me to jump even more, eager to feel the wind underneath my feet, longing to feel weightless.
Physically I get sore, depending on how vigorous I jump, but it never slows down my normal routine.
I’ve woken up every morning since that first day finding myself etching out time in my schedule for some jumping.
The freedom in the jump pulls you to think on different things. I’ve remembered memories I haven’t thought about since my childhood.
I’ve discovered a place when I’m jumping where, for a few minutes a day, I am free to entertain all those thoughts and ideas I didn't have time for the day before. I can even clear my mind completely and boot out anything but absolute silence, if that's what I choose.
I’ve found myself meditating on my relationship with Christ while jumping. It has given me time for self reflection and self encouragement.
Closing my eyes and my mind from the craziness of the world for as little as fifteen minutes a day has strengthened me spiritually.
On the crazy mornings when life is too busy to pray or talk to God, I’ve found that time while jumping. I’ve felt closer to God in those moments, giving me a feeling of accomplishment each day.
I am fascinated at the increased mental clarity I am experiencing.
It’s something about jumping, feeling almost weightless, it has been euphoric and I get this new Rave. I get the hype!
As a professional, a Church Leader, and a mother of three I’ve encountered a lot of setbacks in life.
Both big and small, physical and spiritual, and I’ve needed to rebound, needed to bounce back into life.
All of us need a boost in the right direction and I found that boost in this new Rave!
